This agency was formed after the “Convention Against Doping In Sport Act No.33 of 2013” was passed in September 2013.

1991

First doping control urine test

SLADA conducted the first doping control urine tests at the South Asian Federation Games in Colombo. The 1991 South Asian Games were held in Colombo, Sri Lanka from 22 December to 31 December 1991. History of SLADA began with 1991 South Asian Federation Games.

Late 90s

under sports medicine unit of Ministry of Sports

Since then under sports medicine unit of Ministry of Sports, headed by Dr.Geethanjana Mendis carried out anti-doping testing.In 2006,6 samples were collected from different sport disciplines under the supervision of independent observers.

2013

Establish SLADA

Through a Parliament Act “Convention against Doping in Sport Act. No.33 of 2013” according to the World Anti-Doping Act and its Regulations. Sri Lanka Anti-Doping Agency which was under the Institute of Sports Medicine became an independent body thereafter.

2015

SLADA Walk.

Bill Boards .

The Sri Lanka Anti Doping Agency has organized a walk on Saturday, November 21 in Colombo under the theme of " dope free sport ". Minister of Sports Dayasiri Jayasekera, Deputy Minister of Sports H.M.M Haris, senior cabinet Ministers and other high ranking administrative officials representing the sports fraternity also will attend the occasion.
In addition, thousands of participants representing National sports federation, members of National Olympic committee, National Paralympics committee, the three armed forces, Police, National Youth Services Council and students from government national, private and international schools are expected to participate in the event.

To Take our message into other provinces we had billboards specially in places where sportsmen were training at.
